MARIE CALLENDER'S- WESTMINSTER

PICTURED (top to bottom): Restaurant and Sign, Creamy Potato Cheese Soup, Cornbread, Chili, Artichoke and Mushroom Chicken, Tuscan Chicken Mac and Cheese.

We were out and about on a Friday evening, and needed a place for a quick bite to eat for dinner. So we stopped in at our local Marie Callender's in Westminster. We were seated promptly in a nice booth and our server was courteous and attentive.

We decided to start off with soup. Sweetie Pie ordered the Creamy Potato Cheese Soup, which was hot, thick and very cheesy- Perfecto!. Her mother  ordered the Vegetable Soup, which she says was delicious (but a little too healthy looking for me). I ordered the Chili with Cornbread. The Cornbread was great and the Chili quite good- nice flavor and just spicy enough.

The ladies both decided to have their all-time favorite Marie Callender's entree, the Artichoke and Mushroom Chicken. It is two grilled, boneless herb and garlic chicken breasts topped with sauteed mushrooms and artichokes in a creamy Parmesan, Romano and Asiago sauce. Served over rice pilaf and fresh seasonal vegetables. The three cheese sauce helps to make this classic dish a perennial favorite with us. I decided to try something new, and chose the Tuscan Chicken Mac and Cheese. It is Applewood smoked bacon, mushrooms and curly pasta tossed with cheddar and jack cheese. Topped with a grilled chicken breast and crusted with Parmesan cheese. Great combination, and nicely prepared.

The entrees tonight were quite large, reasonably priced, and very delicious. Although we were too full for dessert, we ordered a Banana Cream Pie to take home. It was not only a beautiful sight to behold, but also one of the better tasting Banana Cream Pies we've had there (and sale priced!).

Tonight's Marie Callender's dinner gets three thumbs up from the 3 Tubby Tummys!
